cowbellz's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- stupid police state. greetings from sunny san diego. rachel, mike, bryan, and i just rolled back into town after driving down to mexico for the night. we stayed with bryan's friend, enrique, in ensenada. he was born and raised there. so we had the non-tourist experience. ate and drank at the local places. went to a party. on the way back, we were stopped at this checkpoint by the mexican military. we were told to pull over so they could search the car. no big deal, we didn't have anything questionable on us. but out of nowhere (or his own pocket) the guard produces a film canister with the tiniest bit of herb in it. he tells bryan to pay him $100 quietly or he'll go to jail. we pool our money and are let go. luckily, we had right at 100 bucks in cash between us. it was such a scam. and now this little punk with a rifle is 100 bucks richer. damn police state. then we waited for an hour in line to get back through the border at tijuana. the fish tacos were good and the beer cheap in ensenada but i'm definitely glad to be back in the states. 2:17 pm - 11 may 2002 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
