cowbellz's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - this past weekend rocked. i was kind of bummed about it at first because the ACL fest was in town and i wasn't going to be able to go because i had to work. to make it worse, donnie and ian were coming in to crash with me for the festival. i decided at the last minute to shell out the bucks for a one day pass and go with them on friday. (they promised to buy me lots of $4 beers) and man was it worth it! i saw al green in all his splendor (and a pimpin' white suit) sing his heart out. it was so great. al's performance more than made up for the price of admission. THEN! the next night, after work, the shins were playing at antone's. meg used to date jesse, the drummer, so we went down there to check it out. there was a line around the block but we found jesse out front and he put us on the guest list. ROCK. saved $18. so, we're hanging out front chatting with him when i look to my left. and literally rubbing elbows with me was wayne coyne from the flaming lips. it was great. he's the nicest guy. so, he and his fiance and meg and i all got into the club with jesse and went upstairs to the band area and met the rest of the guys. then we spent the rest of the show sitting upstairs with wayne and his fiance drinking whiskey and lone star. i NEVER get to have these rock star moments. i was due. 6:24 pm - 23 september 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
