cowbellz's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- jan and dean. huh? so, it's true that all my life i've remembered the correct lyrics to literally thousands of songs. my parents used to tell me that if i used that part of my brain for my classes during college, i could have been a brain surgeon. i've made bets with people over song lyrics. dan, didn't we make a bet the other night? what song was that? i already forgot. but we all have our moments. today i had one. i was driving around playing the "scramble for rent" game that i like to play around this time every month. it's when you turn in your rent check to your apartment people, and then go deposit all the money you have in your possession in the bank. then you look at the balance and see how short you are. then you run around the city trying to come up with the rest. you run by work to see if you have any money there from a shift earlier in the week. you take back those expensive boots you bought for new years but never wore because you were sick and didn't want to deal with them. does anyone else do this? it's like a big math problem, trying to make it all equal up to the magic rent number. today i came within $20. not too shabby. and i work tonight, so i'll make that no problem. let's just hope they don't cash the check today. so while i'm driving around, i hear "cult of personality" by living colour on the radio. i always enjoy this song, partly because i picture the guy with his dreds/braids dancing around in spandex from the video. in the song, there's the line, "like Mussolini and Kennedy, i'm the cult of personality." FOR YEARS, i thought it was "like Mussolini and Jan and Dean." seriously. the song must have come out during that summer when i found my dad's jan and dean greatest hits record and was REALLY into "deadman's curve." i laughed so hard when i heard it today because it is SO CLEARLY kennedy. i'm such a moron. 11:54 am - 05 january 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
