cowbellz's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i'm going to find 'buh uns' for my dad's old used shirts. tonight, for the first time, i went to see a taping of austin city limits. i know, i know, i've lived here for going on 8 years and i can't believe i haven't been before either. hush. so, i got tickets to see spoon. much thanks to adi who sent me an urgent email telling me when they were handing them out. joanna and i met adi and kevin in line and i think we were in the next to last elevator to get into the show. this is where i give a shoutout to jo for hopping out at the stoplight to run secure a place in line while i parked the car. without that act of spontaneity, none of us would have seen it. we were very excited about the free beer that george prepared us for, but it was GONE by the time we got up there. damn you people taking two cups at a time. that's just mean, yo. here is what i have to say about austin city limits: the studio is much smaller than it looks on tv. it's amazing. it really is a very intimate show. the sound is fantastic. i've seen spoon many times, always at a very loud venue. so it was really great to be able to hear the music and the lyrics and have it all sound so crisp and nice. brit cannot tell a joke to save his life. he tried to make a few wisecracks and they were all followed with dead silence. every single one. those will just be edited right out. oh, the magic of television. also, he was wearing makeup.
